The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, discussed with the American envoys Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner the latest developments in the negotiating track between the United States and Iran regarding the memorandum of understanding, during his reception of the two envoys at Lusail Palace in Doha.
The Qatari Emiri Diwan said that during the meeting, the latest developments in the situation in the region were reviewed, especially developments in the negotiating track between Iran and the United States of America within the framework of the memorandum of understanding between the two parties.
According to the Amiri Diwan, the meeting discussed the current situation in Lebanon and emphasized the importance of establishing a ceasefire in a way that preserves Lebanon’s unity, sovereignty and stability.
The Emir of Qatar stressed the continuation of Qatar’s efforts in partnership with Pakistan in mediation, and its support for all tracks of talks emerging from the memorandum of understanding, to reach a comprehensive and sustainable settlement that enhances the security of the region and supports international peace and security.
For their part, the two American envoys expressed their appreciation for the Qatari role in supporting the course of the talks and bringing viewpoints closer, stressing the United States’ commitment to continuing the negotiating path and strengthening diplomatic efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari announced yesterday, Tuesday, that US envoys Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner are in Doha to meet with mediators and discuss the progress of negotiations between the United States and Iran regarding the implementation of the memorandum of understanding.
On June 17, the United States and Iran electronically signed a memorandum of understanding to end the war, in preparation for the second phase of negotiations within 60 days with the aim of reaching a final agreement.
