In a video from Saturday’s pride parade in Malmö, shouts of “All of Malmö hate police” can be heard in the Left Party’s part of the train.
“I think it is a clearly inappropriate way to express yourself,” writes Jonas Lindberg in V’s management to TT.
“We will have a discussion internally to make sure it doesn’t happen again,” continues Jonas Lindberg, who is a regional councilor for V in Stockholm and sits on the party’s executive committee.
In the short video, participants in V’s part of the train can be heard shouting “All of Malmö hates police”. But the slogans should not be interpreted literally, according to The left party Malmö’s chairman Tove Karnerud.
– That’s not how you should interpret it, she says to Sydsvenskan and instead describes what is being shouted as a protest against racism and homophobia within the authority.
Minister of Justice Gunnar Strömmer (M) reacts strongly to the incident.
“It’s actually completely scandalous,” he writes on Instagram.
“To begin with, the context is quite poorly chosen for such messages. Pride stands for the exact opposite of hate – and police are there to guarantee the freedom and safety of everyone who participates,” he writes.
About the message itself against police officers, he writes.
“They don’t deserve hate. But respect, appreciation and all our care.”
