It’s official – Canada is competing in the 2027 Eurovision Song Contest.
It is the first new country since Australia joined the competition in 2015.
Recently it was announced that Canada’s public service company CBC/Radio Canada has become a full member of the European Broadcasting Union, EBU. Thus, they can also compete in Eurovision Song Contest if they would like.
It is now clear that Canada will be in the music competition already next year when Eurovision takes place in Bulgaria, writes the EBU in a press release.
According to the BBC, Canada’s Prime Minister has Mark Carney tried to strengthen Canada’s ties to Europe and in last year’s budget brought up the idea of joining Eurovision.
