The Hollywood director used Netflix money to buy expensive cars, cryptocurrency and luxury goods.
Carl Erik Rinsch’s sentence is now set at two and a half years in prison.
The 48-year-old director, best known for the film “47 Ronin”, received a large sum in advance for a sci-fi series with the working name “White horse”, writes the BBC.
However, the project never came to fruition. Rinsch instead pocketed the money, and used it to buy, among other things, Rolls-Royce cars, mattresses worth hundreds of thousands of dollars and other extravagant luxury goods.
Before the court, Rinsch apologized and stated that he accepts his punishment. He added at the same time that everything is based on a misunderstanding.
Rinsch was sentenced last year by a court in New York for, among other things, fraud and money laundering. He risked up to 90 years in prison.
