US special envoy Steve Witkoff has left the country for Tuesday’s talks with Iran in Qatar’s capital Doha, several sources told CNN.
The disclosures by two US officials come after Iran said a negotiating delegation would be sent to Doha.
Before that, US President Donald Trump claimed that Iran had requested a meeting in the Qatari capital – something that the country initially rejected before announcing the delegation.
After several attacks from both Iran and the US over the weekend, several media reported on Sunday that the ceasefire between the parties is once again in effect “for the time being”.
