A number of players from the Cape Verde national team grabbed the spotlight not only for their performance on the field during the World Cup finals, but also because of their commitment to the teachings of Islam and their concern for them.
A video clip spread on social media of three Cape Verde players who converted to Islam, in which they appeared performing a prayer in a group, with great care.

Muslim trio in Cape Verde
The matter concerns the trio of Logan Costa, the Spanish player for Villarreal, Steven Moreira, the American player for Columbus, and Gamero Montero, the Dutch player for Zwolle.
During an interview on social media platforms, Gamero was asked about the player who leads the prayer, and he replied: “It is Logan (Costa). He is a good person. Sometimes he tells me to lead the prayer, so I ask him to lead the prayer as we are used to.”
Regarding the nature of their relationship, Gamero said: “I have been here for 10 years, and what I feel towards my brothers is a feeling I have never known before.”
For his part, Moreira said: “Because we are the three Muslims on the team, we stay together and pray together before the matches.”
Cap Verde surprise
The Cape Verde national team caused a huge surprise in its first appearance in the World Cup finals, after the team succeeded in qualifying for the round of 32.

The African team surpassed the group stage by occupying second place in Group H behind Spain, after collecting 3 points from 3 draws against Spain, Saudi Arabia and Uruguay.
